Clone PCM Reprogramming on 96 LT4 Corvette by GM Tech2

Works ok on my car 96 LT4 Corvette, You have to manually step through each test though. And you have to guess which standard your car is by manually trying each selection which is annoyingly slow to do. When you finally figure it out, then it goes faster. Big thanks to @ grandspt for his experience sharing. I purchased a 1996 PCM that was used for short money, my goal was to keep it as a spare for my ’96 LT4 Vette since parts are getting harder to come by. I removed my PCM and installed this used PCM. I took out my  GM Tech 2 Clone, opened my Windows XP Netbook that I had previously installed the TIS 2000 software (this software disk came with the Tech 2 Clone). I opened the TIS 2000 application and went to the “Service Program Application” and followed the steps to “Reprogram ECU”. Now this used PCM obviously had a different VIN. So during the program when it prompted me to see if the VIN was correct I deleted the old VIN and entered in my cars VIN. Then I ...

How should we do when GM Tech2 Cannot Detect CANDI Module

Problem: I was concerned about buying from a company in another country. The shipment was delayed a few days due to the parcel service and caronavirus issues, but it is now on its way. Customer service was very good, they were very responsive via email, communication was great. I will certainly purchase from them again. But, when I connect to obd2, it says “cannot detect CANDI module, please verify module is connected”. If it helps you, the green light on the candi module is flashing (not solid). I am not sure what to do. Can you help? The solution From obd2tool technician  : I think I selected the wrong engine designation (there are 3) for my truck and the tech 2 could not communicate because it was looking for a controller that was not present (which presented the error message “no candi module”). So, I think the  GM Tech 2 Scan Tool was OK. It was my fault in my selections. I got it to work now! Very appreciate the solution Chris provided! Hope it helps yo...

Tech 2 clone review shipping, cost, pack, install, tips for newbies

Here, I’d like to give my buying experience on  GM Tech 2 china clone. Cars: I have my C6, 07 2500 GMC, 09 Cobalt that it will work on. Have another scan tool for our foreign cars. Shipping: Shipping was a shocker. China to Cincinnati in 3 days. Ordered it Sunday evening, they processed it quickly, shipped it Tuesday morning and it was sitting on my front porch today, Wednesday by noon. Cost and package: I bought without plastic carton. I had it with a paper box https://www.obd2tool.com/goods-1568-GM+Tech2+GM+Scanner+-CANdi++TIS+(Works+for+GMSAABOPELSUZUKIISUZUHolden).html $250.00 total, free ship to USA by DHL. Tested it on my GMC truck and all seems fine. Connector for older OBD1 as well for 91-95,6 too. Latest software for GM33.004. Install: The memory card works in either slot, I tried both although the disc says to install in upper slot. It’s a tight fight because the spring loaded door doesn’t quite open enough for the card to slide in easily. I got it in wi...

What can I do with a Tech 2 scan tool

Answer for ” What can I do with a Tech 2 Scan Tool ?”: GM Tech 2 is a diagnostic tool for the most part. It can be used to program out/in certain RPO’s in the BCM and can be used to bleed the ABS brake system without introducing air into the system. The extent to which it can be used to tune a C5 corvette is that if you have a PCM Image that will work for your car you can save the current PCM Image and flash the new one you have onto the PCM. It cannot go in and individually change the tuning tables in the PCM as can say either EFI Live or HP Tuners tuning tools. But then those tools cannot touch the BCM either. If you do or plan to do a lot of diagnostic work on your car it can be a worthwhile tool. Most of the diagnostic charts in the factory service manual assume the availability of a Tech 2. But you have to learn to use the tool like any other computerized diagnostic tool. It has layers and layers of menues to wade through. But in certain diagnostic situations it c...
